Christmas and New Years Eve!

Deri Postponed!

With the match against Deri postponed and a free saturday last weekend it feels like the firsts and seconds have not played for a while..........with Christmas coming fast the next game is for the first team on Saturday 31st December 2011 at home versus Treherbert RFC at Rumney rec. It would be good to get a few supporters out to cheer the lads on as this will be an important game for us. As we go into the new year we sit well in second place in the league, showing strongly in the East District cup and the worthington Silver ball. The second half of the season should at the very least exciting with some great rugby to observe! Come on the Illts!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL

The first won 38-10 at home to Dinas Powys (Sat 26 November 2011) moving them up into second in the league table. Five great tries were scored and a bonus point earned. The seconds game was called off as St Josephs were unable to raise a team!

No first team game now until December 17th away to Deri RFC but the seconds are hoping to play at midday next Saturday at home prior to the Wales V Australia match which kicks off at 230pm

Well the firsts travelled to Ferndale today (19th Nov) and came away with a hard fought win 15 points to 8. This was another great win and moves the first team into third in the table. The seconds took on Whitchurch firsts at Rumney recreation ground and the game slipped away from them eventually going down 5 points to nil in what was another excellent game of rugby, refereed splendidly by Steve Union a former pupil at St Illtyds school. The seconds could and should have won this game but with a number of close attempts foiled by good defence by Whitchurch it was'nt to be! Whitchurch top the 2nd team table and the Illts seconds look forward to the rematch on December 17th at Whitchurch.

The firsts play Dinas Powys at home next week and the seconds travel to St Josephs.

After last Saturdays (12th Nov) excellent wins for both the firsts and seconds (Old Penarthians and Seview respectively) the first winning 36 -0 and the seconds gaining a superb win against a really strong Seaview side who have been playing well and with lots of confidence. The seconds eventually winning the game 13-3 the players are really looking forward to playing this weekend (19th Nov). The firsts travel to Ferndale and the seconds are at home to Whitchurch.

Players are reminded that the end of season tour (end of May 2012) to Madrid is up and running and deposits of £50 should be paid before the end of November 2011 to either Andrew Maunder or Phil Morse asap!
